The core region of Yanqing Competition Zone is situated at south of Xiaohaituo Mountain’s valley of Haituo Mountain Area, which is located south to Jundu Mountai of Yanshan Mountains in Yanqing District of Beijing. Bordering Songshan National Nature Reserve, the competition zone occupies a land of 800 hectares and has a total building area of 269,000 square meters, where National Alpine Skiing Center, National Sliding Center, Yanqing Winter Olympic Village and Mountain Media Center. During the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the alpine skiing matches of Winter Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, as well as sled and bobsleigh matches of Winter Olympic Games will be held in Yanqing Competition zone, where 21 gold medals for Winter Olympic Games and 30 gold medals for Winter Paralympic Games will be given.
With an overall planning design philosophy of “Mountain Forest Venues & Ecological Winter Olympics”, the project has carried out ecological restoration throughout the whole construction process, thus reducing the impact of venue and infrastructure construction, presenting a demonstrative Olympic construction project featuring “the co-existence of sports and ecology”.
