The expansion and renovation of the original terminal was realized with a series of restrictions as the outline, area, column grid, functionality and height of the terminal were all predetermined. The architectural design, featuring an undulating form, remind people of the clouds, sheep flock and mountains of Inner Mongolia. The canopy, stretching along both the new and original terminals, serves as a crucial element of connection. The wavy roof of single-layered reticulated shell structure is supported by double-V shaped columns. The integration of the columns and the ceiling has blurred the boundary between vertical and horizontal elements.
