Ordos Airport Terminal

The Eagle of the Grassland, a very metaphor for the new terminal of Ordos Airport, shows an iconic image for the rapid developing city. As a joint of air travel, roadway and metro, the terminal clarifies its function into three stories: the arriving level, the departing level and a mezzanine for retail and restaurants. With a column-free span of 108m, the concourse, which is an iconic image of the airport, gives a deep impression to visitors. After a study of Fuller Dome, the frame of the central skylight becomes a total combination of architecture and structure to maximum the visual openness. Under the ceiling is a long oil painting describing the life of Genghis Khan. Two wings with 540m-long curved canopies containing waiting halls flank the concourse. Most of the structural components are exposed to presenting the beauty of structure design.
