With its semi-enclosed layout derived from Tulou, a type of Chinese vernacular building, the project responds to complicated requirements and creates a nurturing and protective environment. A dynamic courtyard with a gymnasium can accommodate recreation and gatherings. The innovative "school within a school" design divides the building into smaller units to give a greater sense of identity and pride of ownership among students, faculty, parents and the community.
